Pennsylvania PBS Stations Awarded a Combined 21 Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards
At a virtual ceremony this past Saturday, the seven public television stations that comprise Pennsylvania PBS received 21 Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards. No other media organization or group in the region received this level of recognition. The 2020 MidAtlantic Emmy® Awards ceremony can be viewed on the National Academy of Television Arts & Science Mid-Atlantic Chapter YouTube channel here.
Of the 78 Emmy® categories, Pennsylvania PBS had 66 nominations in 40 categories. The prestigious Overall Excellence award – for sustained excellence in quality locally produced programs, community engagement, and overall operations – was awarded to WQED Multimedia. This is the fifth Overall Excellence award for WQED Multimedia, a status no other station in Pennsylvania holds.
“We are honored to have the quality of our work recognized by the Mid -Atlantic Chapter of the National Television Academy,” said Kate Domico, Executive Director of Pennsylvania PBS. “In categories ranging from short-and-long-form documentaries covering music, sports, education, and history to human interest stories and video journalism, the public media stations demonstrated their ability to tell the Commonwealth’s stories.”
